Unbeaten league record blown away
Haslemere were well beaten on a day best forgotten.
The first 10 minutes of the match were pretty even and Haslemere could have taken the lead when Cara went clean through but her shot was aimed straight at the keeper. This was about as good as it got for Haslemere as Horsley started putting together some good passes. They were first to every ball and also picked up anything loose and this was to prove Haslemere’s undoing. A through ball split the defence and Horsley took the lead with a good finish to a fine move. Helped by Haslemere’s lack of urgency Horsley continued to dominate and scored a deserved second to lead 2-0 at the break.
The half time hairdryer had an immediate effect when Cara lobbed the keeper to make it 2 – 1 early in the second half. Although Haslemere started to play better Horlsey, with their confidence high, continued to cause the away defence problems. It was no surprise when the smallest player on the pitch easily went past two or three players to score a match winning third. A fourth followed shortly before the end and Horsley ran out deserved winners. The girls will be upset with their performance but they have made a tremendous start to the season and shouldn’t be too downhearted as a below par performance was always likely at some stage.
Charlotte standing in for Lily at full back had a great game and Emily to should be commended for her performance.
