Well beaten by league leaders

Ex Woking star Lloyd Wye's team proved why they are runaway league leaders
Haslemere were always going to find it difficult up against a well drilled and determined GPR team. Haslemere began confidently and passed the ball well but once they lost possession they gave their opponents far too much time and space to play. This proved costly and GPR scored two goals in almost as many minutes. This knocked the stuffing out of the team and it was no surprise that GPR added a further two goals to lead comfortably at half time, 4 - 0.
Haslemere found it a bit easier playing down the slope in the second half and put some good moves together. Emine, Cara & Zoe in particular doing well. This coupled with great defending from Lily and Anna kept things pretty even. The GPR forwards were a constant threat with their movement and ability to pick out passes. Midway through the half they scored a fifth and things could have been much worse but for some great interceptions from Anna who seems to improve with every game. To their credit Haslemere kept fighting and scored when Cara bundled home from close range following a good run and cross from Emine. A loss in concentration led to a sixth goal and but for a fine penalty save from Maisy it could have been 7.
6 - 1 was probably a bit harsh on the girls but they do need to remember the importance of keeping their shape and discipline when not in possession of the ball. The passing was a real plus point today and that comes from the work they put in at training.
Well done to Katie and Emily who really worked hard today.
Congratulations to GPR who are a very good and sporting team
